A kid-friendly boat ride, fun for everyone

Plenty of boat rides at the Jersey Shore are geared to grown-ups or have age limits. Ours is a kid-friendly boat ride, built for families from day one. Since 2009, our crew has turned every 75-minute sailing into a pirate adventure that kids take part in, not just watch. Kids get pirate tattoos at check-in, learn some pirate lingo, read a treasure map, fire water cannons at Pirate Pete and help bring the sunken treasure aboard. Toddlers, big kids, parents and grandparents all sail together.

Where we sail

From Waterfront Marina, the Sea Gypsy II heads out along the Metedeconk River and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), circling Herring Island. Along the way the route passes the shorelines of Brick, Point Pleasant Borough, Bay Head and Mantoloking.

Tips for sailing with little ones

  • Every person, babies included, needs a ticket, and at least 1 adult must sail with children.
  • Arrive 30 minutes early. Check-in is part of the fun, with pirate tattoos before you board.
  • The ship leaves on schedule, so give yourself extra time to park and walk to the dock.
  • Public tickets are $33–$37 per person. See pirate adventure tickets and prices.

Bringing a group?

Book the whole boat, starting at $899 for up to 43 guests. It’s a favorite for kids’ birthday parties, family reunions, scout troops and school groups, and family groups can book any sailing time. See private charters. Planning a grown-ups-only night? Adult cruises, sunset cruises and company outings sail only on our 6:30 PM final sailing, which is also the only sailing where BYOB is allowed (adults only). Want to give the adventure as a present? Gift certificates are available by calling (732) 899-6100.
