NJ Field Trip Ideas by Grade (PreK–Grade 4)
Our NJ field trip ideas start at Waterfront Marina in Brick, aboard Sea Gypsy II.
Looking for NJ field trip ideas? Jersey Shore Pirates has welcomed classrooms and summer camps aboard the Sea Gypsy II since 2009. Students read a treasure map, crack message-in-a-bottle clues, man the water cannons and hoist sunken treasure on the Metedeconk River. Every trip boards at Waterfront Marina in Brick, NJ, and schools travel to us from across Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Mercer, Burlington, Somerset and Union counties.
NJ field trip ideas by grade
PreK and Kindergarten
Our youngest crews learn to talk like a pirate, take on a job as part of the ship’s crew and follow a simple treasure map. It’s hands-on, story-driven fun that keeps little learners moving and engaged.
Grades 1–2
Students practice map reading as they track the treasure, then work together to decode a secret message in a bottle. It’s a great fit for classes learning to follow directions and work as a team.
Grades 3–4
Older students take on more problem solving and pick up real nautical terminology as they crew the ship, plan the treasure recovery and defend the Sea Gypsy II with water cannons.
Every adventure builds in map reading skills, problem solving skills and nautical terminology. Our Pirate Adventure was created by an elementary education professional, and our staff includes education professionals. See full trip details on our School & Camp Field Trips page.
