However, we do not sail in Thunderstorms. All decisions are made the day of the cruise as accurately as possible. This is the hardest part of our job, thank you for understanding. Please Do Not call about weather. We will call you if there are any issues. If you do not hear from us the trip is on as scheduled. We sail in rain but we do not sail if the conditions are determined to be unsafe by the Captain (thunder, lightening, heavy downpours or damaging winds). All weather related decisions are determined by the Captain. Please keep in mind that a 30% chance of rain means there is a 70% chance of treasure.. Please review our cancellation policy. If it is raining where you are driving from it doesn’t mean that it is raining at our location. We do our absolute best that we can with all weather situations but sometimes weather can be unpredictable. We are always close to our docking area and safety is our top concern. Trips can be altered or changed if the captain determines it is necessary. Please know that Weather Channels and weather apps are frequently inaccurate and we do not pay attention to any long range forecasts but rather watch radars the day of only. Please do not call about the weather, we will call you approximately 1 hour prior to your scheduled arrival to notify you if we are not sailing we. We have up to 7 trips daily so calling at 10:00 am about a 6:30 cruise does not make sense. ## Cancellation Policy All reservations will be held to our cancellation policy without exception. We reserve the right to cancel or modify any sail in the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds, or conditions deemed unsafe by the captain. We do sail in the rain. In the unfortunate event that we must cancel a voyage we will call approximately 1 hour prior to your scheduled arrival to notify you of the cancellation. If we cancel your trip for any reason you will not be charged. **Cancellations due to weather are at the sole discretion of Jersey Shore Pirates. Please know that we do our best with predicting the weather but weather on the Jersey Shore can be unpredictable so we appreciate your patience. We are always watching the radar so if you do not hear from us we are sailing.** **We understand that circumstances such as weather forecasts, personal matters, traffic delays, bus transportation issues, air quality alerts, heat advisories, and other unforeseen events can create challenges. We offer a discount for early bookings so if you see a lower price for a certain trip you are one of the earlier reservations for that particular sailing. The early pirate gets the treasure. ### How can I cancel my reservation? For all reservations made online and for reservations that did not require a deposit, simply go to your confirmation e-mail and click the link that allows you to cancel the reservation. Please know that these reservations have a 72 hour cancellation policy as agreed to when booking. The cancellation link will disappear once you are inside the cancellation period and at this point you are responsible for the tickets. ### Can I use my ticket for another time if I miss my sailing? Unfortunately all tickets are non-transferable within the agreed cancellation period. You are responsible for all tickets within the cancellation window. These are tickets for a specific date and time. We have a very limited season and a limited capacity. If Jersey Shore Pirates has to cancel for any reason, then you will be either refunded or can move to another time if you prefer. We sail in rain but we do not sail if the conditions are determined to be unsafe by the Captain (thunder, lightening, heavy downpours or damaging winds). All weather related decisions are determined by the Captain. Please keep in mind that a 30% chance of rain means there is a 70% chance of treasure. Please review our cancellation policy. If it is raining where you are driving from it doesn’t mean that it is raining at our location. We do our absolute best that we can with all weather situations but sometimes weather can be unpredictable. We are always close to our docking area and safety is our top concern. Trips can be altered or changed if the captain determines it is necessary. Please know that Weather Channels and weather apps are frequently and intentionally inaccurate and we do not pay attention to any long range forecasts but rather watch radars the day of only. Please do not call about the weather, if you do not like the forecast, we encourage you to contact the person who made the forecast you follow. If we are not sailing we will call you. We have up to 7 trips daily so calling at 10:00 am about a 6:30 cruise does not make sense. ### What if it's hot? Yes, this is a seasonal business with a good portion taking place during the summer, the ship still sails when its hot. Bring water and dress accordingly. ### What if it's cold? Yes, we will be sailing. Feel free to bring a jacket and dress accordingly. ### We are driving from far away, what do we do if our trip gets cancelled while we are on our way? In the event of unexpected weather that can not be tracked on the radar (i.e. pop-up thunderstorms) cancels the trip, we recommend checking out The Gravity Vault in Brick, NJ or Jenkinsons Aquarium in Point Pleasant. ### Can I bring a stroller on board? Yes a stroller can be brought onboard. We recommend a smaller stroller with a cover or umbrella as it limits your movement on the ship and can not fit under the covered area. ### Do I need a ticket for a baby? Yes. The way the Coast Guard counts passengers, every single person onboard counts toward our limited capacity. ### Something happened and we can't make the trip, can we use the tickets for another day or time? Unfortunately no. We have a minimum of a 72 hour cancellation policy. We know unexpected things pop up but the tickets are for the time and day that you purchased them for much like for a flight or a sporting event. Please see the reservation/cancellation policy for more specific details. If you arrive at the dock with less members in your crew, we have no way to sell unused tickets at the dock. ### Where do we park? There is free parking inside our marina for your crew. You MUST Drive slowly inside the marina as other businesses and ours are operating with people present. ### Do you take reservations for smaller families or do we need to be with a larger group? Families of all sizes are welcome! You do not need to be part of a larger group to enjoy a trip on the Sea Gypsy II. Our trips are fun for families of two or families of twenty. All will take part in the adventure. ### How do I make a reservation? Book online for your crew on the home page or under reservations tab. The online option has an accurate availability and schedule. If you are looking for a Private Charter please call us at 732-899-6100 to make your reservations. Please know while we are very active on our Social Media Pages and e-mail throughout the day we can not constantly monitor it so please know the only way to make or talk about your reservation is over our phone lines. ### Is there a bathroom on board the ship? No, there is no true head onboard The Sea Gypsy II. We have an emergency potty onboard if a child really needs to go but we do have bathrooms at our check-in area for when you arrive and return. ### Do I need to make a reservation? Yes, we highly recommend that you make a reservation for any sail as we have a limited capacity that we are allowed to bring aboard the Sea Gypsy II for any sailing time. This capacity count includes all people onboard including infants through adults and is set by the Coast Guard. We will not be able to accommodate even the smallest passenger once we hit out maximum capacity, no exceptions can or will be made. ### Are you affiliated with any other Pirate Ships? Jersey Shore Pirate Adventures is Family Owned and operated. We are not part of any other companies. We do however sail under the Pirate Adventures Flag That has been operating since 1995. Our sister ships can be found up and down the east coast, they are all also owned and operated individually but the Sea Gypsy’s name assures a family friendly experience at any of the other locations. Pirate Adventures has been recognized as the best in the business since its beginning. Other Sea Gypsy Ports of call include; Hyannis Cape Cod, Annapolis MD, Myrtle Beach SC, and Martha’s Vineyard MA. ### What should we wear? Dress comfortably for the weather. It tends to be a few degrees cooler on the river so bring a sweatshirt if you think you may need one. The only shoes that do not work for the ship are high heels. If it’s a sunny day feel free to bring sunscreen, if you are worried about getting drizzled on bring a poncho as umbrellas block the view of the captain. If you show up on a chilly day in a T-shirt and shorts you will be chilly so plan accordingly. ### Can I reserve the Sea Gypsy for adult grog parties? If you rent out a private boat for a family adventure and want to take a cruise along the beautiful Metedeconk River you are more than welcome to bring a little of your own grog for the grownups and we would be happy to customize the Adventure for your crew. Absolutely! The Sea Gypsy II was designed around our Pirate Adventure. It has the look and feel of an authentic Pirate Ship but is built with our program in mind. The ship is designed to keep the kids involved the entire trip. Aye it absolutely is! Our young lady mates have a great time onboard The Sea Gypsy II. We host many parties and events for young ladies. Some of our favorites are: Anne Bonny – Female Pirate of the Caribbean and Grace O’Malley – Famous Irish woman pirate who commanded 3 galleys and 200 men. ### Do we need to bring life jackets? We have plenty of life jackets onboard the Sea Gypsy. However, our life jackets are built for safety rather than comfort so you are more than welcome to bring your own life vest from home if you would like. However, since we are a Coast Guard certified vessel our mates are not required to wear them while onboard. The captain will give a safety speech prior to departure to make you aware of the locations of life vests. ### Are the waters rough? Will I get sea sick? We sail in safe protected waters. The only waves that we come across are from other boat wakes in the river. We sail on the Metedeconk River which is the northern most part of the Barnegat Bay. We are protected from all rough seas and there are no strong currents or large tide changes. There is plenty of water in the Metedeconk at both high and low tides. ### Is there any food on the boat? No. The children are involved the entire time throughout their Pirate Adventure so there is no time for food on the sail. However, if you want to bring a small snack or drinks for your child you are more than welcome to do so. We also have a drink cooler in our office and there is a family friendly Tavern across the street for after your cruise (Windward Tavern). ### Can we have a birthday cake on board? No, but there is a free public park right next door to the marina if you would like to extend your day and drive next door. Once on board, the mates will participate in an interactive treasure hunt on the high seas.
